Learning Disability Coalition
Protect the frontline
The new Government has announced that there will be cuts in public spending. The Learning Disability Coalition has launched the ‘Protect the Frontline’ campaign to hold the Government accountable for its promise to protect key frontline services from these cuts. People with a learning disability rely on frontline support for everyday activities such as eating, bathing, dressing, health, housing, learning and safety.
In the Comprehensive Spending Review (CSR) in October the Treasury will set out the details of the budget for the next 4 years. We need your help to make sure that social care budgets are protected in this CSR.
The Treasury is currently planning the CSR. It is vital that we remind the Treasury of the Government’s commitment to protect the frontline. Please write to your MP and ask them to write to the Treasury Minister, Rt Hon Danny Alexander, and ask that frontline services for people with a learning disability are protected and that the social care budget is protected in the forthcoming CSR.
